India's Kidambi Srikanth continued his march at the Yonex Canada Open 2025 after pulling off a facile win in the men's singles round of 16 draw on Thursday.
The 32-year old was pitted against Chinese Taipei's Wang Po-Wei and the Indian made light work of his opponent in a 41 minute outing, prevailing in straight games 21-19, 21-14.
Earlier, in the opening round on Wednesday, Kidambi Srikanth had come back from being a game down to beat the higher-ranked and 7th-seeded Priyanshu Rajawat in a closely contested three-game fixture.
Following him, the former world junior medalist Sankar Subramanian also advanced past the round of 16 with a 21-19, 21-14 win against Chinese Taipei's Huang Yu-Kai.
Both Kidambi and Sankar now have a tougher quarterfinals ahead, where the former world no.1 Kidambi will take on top-seeded Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei, while Sankar is taking on fourth-seeded Kenta Nishimoto of Japan.
Later, Indian youngster Shriyanshi Valishetty took a commanding straight-game win against Malaysia's K Letshanaa in straight-games (21-15, 21-14) to booker a spot in the quarterfinals.
She will next take on Amalie Schulz of Denmark in the next round on Friday.
