Taiwan Athletics Open: Pooja, Jyothi Yarraji, Tejas Shirse win gold- Highlights

Twelve Indian athletes participated on day 1 of the World Athletics Continental Bronze event, the Taiwan Athletics Open 2025, in Chinese Taipei on Saturday.
The top Indian hurdlers, Jyothi Yarraji and Tejas Shirse, led the day for India with the gold medals with good timings, while Asian championship medalist Pooja won the women's 1500m final.
In the field, Triple jumper Abdulla Aboobacker was the only Indian to compete on the day. Meanwhile, the Indian men's and women's 4*100m relay teams also clinched the gold medals.

- Jyothi Yarraji - 100m Hurdles women - 12.99s
- Pooja - 1500m Women - 4:11.63s
- Tejas Shirse - 110m Hurdles - 13.52s
- 4*100m Men Relay Team - 38.75s
- 4*100m Women Relay Team - 44.07s
- Abdulla Aboobacker - Triple Jump Men - 16.21m
Indian men's 4*100m team of Gurindervir Singh, Animesh Kujur, Manikanta Hoblidhar, and Amlan Borgohain ran a solid race to clinch the title.
After a heartbreaking Asian Championships, the team returned to the international competition and won the gold medal with their second-best timing of the year.
This is also a new Championship Record of the competition from the Indian sprint relay team of V Sudheeksha, Abhinaya Rajarajan, Sneha SS, and Nithya Gandhe.
However, they could not better their timings from the Asian Championship, where they clocked 43.86s.
The Indian team of Sudheeksha V, Abhinaya Rajarajan, Sneha SS, and Nithya Gandhe will be taking part in the final.
Only one member of the team for the Indian team Asian Championships has been replaced, i.e, Suddesksha will be taking the place of the experienced Srabani Nanda.

The Indian women's team, which shocked everyone after winning a silver medal at the Asian Championships, will be aiming to better their timings and clinch another gold medal on the international circuit.

This is the new season's best time for Tejas Shirse, who has earlier missed out on the Indian contingent of the Asian Athletics Championships.
He has two good races this month, which will give him good confidence ahead of the long outdoor season.
Tejas will be the sheer favourite for the gold medal, based on the performance in the preliminary round.
